News from Tullycarnet

Tullycarnet Primary School is located within our parish area and caters for children in the age range 4 - 11 years. The Rector is Vice-Chairman of the Board of Governors and visits the school regularly to conduct assembly (with an act of worship), meet with children and staff and, occasionally, to teach Religious Education.

Yet More Success for Tullycarnet Primary School

The Rector was present at a recent assembly in Tullycarnet Primary School, when the children sang a hymn entitled "Our God is Wonderful." The words of this hymn were written by two P7 pupils from the school, Chloe Loughins and Emma Robinson, and they were set to music by the school's music teacher, Mrs Linda Robinson.

This is just another example of the type of teaching employed at the school, where the children are encouraged to use their talents to the full.

Another illustration of this teacher-pupil co-operation can be seen in the recent formation of a School Council, where the children are involved in certain aspects of the decision-making process. For example, the children on the Council are currently discussing the possibility of making changes to the school uniform.

These aspects of teaching encourage the children to see the bigger picture, and give them an insight into the life of the school from another perspective. In a primary School, this certainly shows a great deal of forward thinking. What excellent pupils (and teachers!) we have at Tullycarnet.
