OUTREACH

As well as a proportion of the Parish's income being donated to various outside charities and organisations for work both at home and overseas, our people are personally involved in many other areas of Christian outreach.

Each year our people take part in door-to-door collections in support of The Mission to Seafarers and Christian Aid.

Presents placed at the foot of the Christmas Tree in the Church each year are distributed to children with severe learning difficulties  Tear Fund lunches organised by Rosemary and her band of helpers have raised much needed money to help with work in the Third World

Also through Tear Fund, parishioners have for six years, sponsored a young girl in the Dominican Republic . Her name was Ederlinda Martinez Acevedo. Ederlinda lived in a poor area of the south-eastern city of San Pedro. Despite the number of industries in this important seaport, many Dominicans make a meagre living as sugar cane cutters and street vendors. Ederlinda and her brother lived with their grandparents as her parents were separated and neither was able to provide a home for their children. Our support helped to provide her with education, health care, social activities and spiritual training. We heard from Ederlinda from time to time and she received letters from children in our Sunday School. Although Ederlinda has now left school, and is no longer under the sponsorship scheme, we continue to support the area in which she lived.
